U.S. Midwest Kubb Championship & Fundraiser
Location: Eau Claire, WI - Boyd Park
Time: 9am
Teams: Minimum two players. All teams welcome. 64 team limit.
Cost: $10 per person. Tournament t-shirts will be available for $10.
Rules: World Championship rules.
Format: All matches are best of three. Group play will consist of a round robin format with groups of four kubb teams (three matches per team). A single elimination playoff round will follow with teams facing opposing teams in other four team groups (1a vs. 4b, 2a vs. 3b, etc). Opportunities for non-advancing teams in the playoff round to continue to play during the day in a consolation bracket will be available. Each team is guaranteed at least five games. Trophies will be given to the 2009 champions, second place, and third place, courtesy of the Kubbistan Freedom Fighters (Helena, Montana).
Food: Food will be available for purchase.
Lodging: Rooms available at downtown Ramada Inn ($65/night). Call and say you are with the kubb tournament. 715.835.6121. Rooms will be released one month prior, but discount will continue, if rooms are available.
What will the proceeds go towards?
- USA for UNHCR: Survival kits for refugees from Darfur, Sudan.
- Girls on the Run:
Shoes and costs for girls from low-income families in Eau Claire County who want to participate in the Girls on the Run program.
Silent Auction: 1) Two round-trip tickets from any Icelandair North American gateway to Reykjavik, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, or Stockholm. (some conditions do apply), 2) Kubb set from Old Time Games

Additional comment: There is no skill level required. This is obviously a tournament, but one can also think of it as a way to be able to play kubb with people from different places over the course of an enjoyable day, while at the same time raising money for two organizations.
